Nina Ricci Perfumes – Timeless Fragrances
Nina Ricci was born in 1883 in France, though she was of Italian origin. While she passed away in 1970, she made a lasting impression on the world of fashion and was known for her elegant couture house specializing in luxury fragrance and designer wear, opened in 1932. She and her son, Robert, were the proud owners and operators of the famed establishment. Because of the empire she built, despite her loss, her designer fragrances live on and keep her memory alive with their enticing aromas.
Her most famous fragrance is L’air du Temps (Spirit of the Times), created in 1948. The famous stopper of a pair of billing doves was designed by Mark Lalique. The fragrance is a very simple and explicit bouquet, airy and floral, with a base note of musk and amber. L’air du Temps took its place in cult film when Hannibal Lecter in the Silence of the Lambs detects that Agent Clarice Starling sometimes wore it.
Some of the Nina Ricci perfumes have been heralded as symphonic in aroma, with an incredible, deep blend of fragrances that complete a bouquet every time they are applied. For example, Love in Paris is a heady mix of floral arrangements, blended to perfection and perfect for casual occasions in spring or summer. This fragrance is full of violet, anis, bergamot, and rose, layered with apricot, jasmine, and white peony, all laid out atop a bed of sandalwood, cedar, musk, and subtle vanilla.
Nina is the signature scent in the line of Nina Ricci perfumes and offers a gentle but sharp floral scent. Created all the way back in 1987, this formula has lasted the test of time, its blend of woods, florals, fruits, and greenery creating the perfect feminine aroma for a rich, romantic smell. This particular perfume is ideal for a romantic evening or a special occasion.
Capricci is a unique fragrance among Nina Ricci perfumes, created by Francis Fabron. Another romantically appealing fragrance, you’ll find hints of bergamot and rosemary blended with tuberose, orris root, hyacinth, and lily-of-the-valley. These are joined by overtones of gardenia, rosemary, and ylang-ylang, as well as geranium, rose and narcissus. All of this is laced into a bed of oakmoss, vetiver, benzoin, musk, and sandalwood for a darker, richer blend.
Deci Dela (literally translated as “here and there”) is another classic and extremely popular fragrance. It was created in 1994 and is a light and airy version of the popular “gourmand” fragrances of the Nineties, with fruity topnotes and a vanilla base.
For a lighter, more airy blend, try Les Belles Amour by Nina Ricci. Introduced in 1999, this offers a blend of green floral arrangement with minty spice and fragrant woods, sweetened with sugar. Recommended for daytime wear, casual fragrances don’t get anymore sophisticated than this.
